Internship Application Process
 

Western Native Voice is looking for an individual who demonstrates a desire for long term commitment in working with disenfranchised communities and displays the following skill sets or knowledge:

  • Ability to interact effectively and productively with the general public 

  • A team player who can work productively, both independently and with others

  • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

  • An understanding of the economic and political issues that affect Indian Country, or a willingness to learn about the issues

  • A basic knowledge of current events as they pertain to Indian Country

  • Able and willing to work on weekends and evenings

  • Basic computer skills

  • Applicants must possess basic skills working smartphone technologies or be willing to learn

  • Applicants should be generally reachable by phone and email during work hours

A Western Native Voice internship provides a wide range of experiences including:

  • Relationship building experience and skills

  • Research and writing strategies and skills

  • Community organizing skills

  • Gain knowledge of issues pertaining to Montana’s Indian Country

  • Exposure to local, tribal, state and federal government systems

  • Historical perspective of culture in politics

  • History of the Native Vote

  • Professional development in a workforce environment

  • Opportunities for leadership development
